This recipe has been in our family since I was a child. The “Grantham Gingerbread Shop” no longer exists (we loved to go there as children), although I believe a local bakery still makes them. There is an old family story that our family once had a famous brand toffee recipe. This is our family fudge recipe.

I have been baking this since a child and remember aged 12 giving it to my headmaster at The Avenues. This is a fridge cake

Aunty Hilda was my Grandma’s sister – so technically a great aunt. This ginger shortbread was in our family before “Millionaire’s Shortbread” became a thing.

Mrs Williams was a friend of my mother from her local church ladies club. She made these chocolate topped moist coconut cherry slices which were great for afternoon tea.

This was a recipe we were taught at school (aged 12) in home economics class.
