I have been baking this since a child and remember aged 12 giving it to my headmaster at The Avenues. This is a fridge cake

Ingredients
- 8 oz Rich Tea biscuits crushed
- 6 oz Margarine or butter
- 6 oz sugar
- 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder
- 1 egg beaten
- chocolate to coat
- optional dates, nuts or cherries
Method
- Melt the margarine, sugar and cocoa in a pan
- take off heat and slowly stir in the beaten egg
- Add the rich tea biscuits and stir well
- Stir in optional items
- Place in shallow 7 inch tin, press down, and allow to cool
- Melt chocolate and pour on top
- refrigerate to set and cut into squares
